a taste for design

July 20th, 2010

lovely_food01

More and more designers are starting to embrace food and it’s different qualities as a new design material – exploring the possibilities afforded by edible products.

Observing how we interact with our food on a day-to-day basis, designers play with it’s role beyond just nutritional purposes.

Our selection includes the work of diverse artists and designers, who show us ordinary food from a different angle.

Africa_moroso01
“There is an image, an idea of Africa that lives deep in human imagination. Its form often transcends the power of the world and its profile lies under layers of conscious retrieval. it is alive within each one of us on a primordial level, inexplicable yet undeniable.” Maya Angelou
Summer is coming! Inspired by beautiful colours, patterns as well as the upcoming World Cup, we would like to dedicate this post to influences, trends and projects happening in and around Africa.

brand extension

February 28th, 2010

brand_01c
Fashion houses have been extending their brands outside the intrinsic couture space for a long time now. Their cosmetics and accessories -including watches- are almost a given these days. Microcosmos_01a

Inspired by Alexander McQueen’s incredible collection for 2010, we had a look into other fields of design, where new technologies such as digital printing on textiles and 3D printing of complicated shapes have a growing effect on the work of designers.

LONDON DESIGN FASHION FESTIVAL WEEK

October 2nd, 2009

fashion_festival

I
Having somehow managed to survive the London Fashion Week followed by the London Design Festival, we thought that it would be fun to treat them as a single event and look for trends that would connect them both. If you ask us, the result is more interesting than looking at each one separately… maybe they should mix things up a bit next year.

greenjewellery_01

I
The increasing awareness of ecology and people’s growing desire to reconnect with nature -or at least to take a piece of it with them- is reflected in this collection of contemporary jewellery designs. Classic materials like gold and diamonds have made room for more organic treasures.
