ALBA owes its name to Federico Garcia Lorca’s famous play The House of Bernarda Alba. On the first scene of the first act Bernarda’s house is described; “White room, thick walls, ‘enea’ chair”. The enea (straw) chair was once the de-facto chair in many countries around the world. A simple wooden frame with hand woven straw around the seat and backrest. A workhorse chair used as a basic dining chair and favoured by flamenco guitar players. With ALBA we wanted to create an homage to the traditional enea chair. These glasses won the prestigious Opus Design Award in 2006. The core components have been reduced to just 3 main parts – a single glass lens and two titanium arms. This creates a compelling visual tension and a very pure appearance drawing the focus to the single lens and giving it a jewel-like quality. MOTO W375October 4th, 2009
The MOTO375 is a sweet and inexpensive phone. We used some very simple and low cost solutions – like the illuminated icons instead of using an external display or the gradient paint- to increase the perceived value and give its own personality without increasing the cost of the product. STEPHEN FRY ON THE MOTOU9September 20th, 2009
This article is over a year old but – hey!, it is not everyday that you get Stephen Fry to say nice things about your work in The Guardian. “If you want a sweet little phone that causes eyes to pop and mouths to drop, then the U9 is for you. If you can wait a few years… well, one drools. One positively drools.” And if you don’t believe us you can read the full article here |
